3D Origami - Chimecho by Jobe3DO 3D Origami - Chimecho by Jobe3DO

Hi,

A 3D Origami version of the Pokemon Chimecho that has a length of 2 feet (60 centimeters). This project took me three days to construct, and took about twelve hours for the folding. And an extra two days for the glue to apply and harden. I used a lot of glue for this project mainly because I planned on wearing it at Hal-Con this weekend in Halifax. But since I wasn't allowed into the building on Saturday and got my refund for my ticket I could not show it off. But usually I wouldn't use as much glue as what I did for this project.

Let me know what do you all think down in the comments. I have requested for critiques about this project regarding it's accuracy for the shape of this project. (Not the color or general location for this Pokemon.) Also for the critiques remember that during the construction of this piece I was using memory of what this character looks like. I hope you all enjoy how Chimecho turned out.

impressive. I can tell that you have great command of style and originality. however, keep in mind that chimecho is supposed to be a pokemon wind chime, and it would have had a better originality if it were to mimic an actual wind chime. I really like your technique though in being able to stand the chimecho up on a tree. given that this deviation was done from memory, it is all the more valuable to the beholder that the artist has envisioned the subject fully and as real as it gets (chimecho's actual size is 2 feet). one pet peeve of mine is the use other materials besides paper. your description notes that you used a lot of glue for this deviation, which is a huge taboo for origami since its original practice was with paper only. nevertheless, this deviation boasts your creativity and originality that is not always evident in an artist's work. good job.
What do you think?

Good going! At first I thought it was a knitting!

The only thing I could complain about is that the head is too small. You did use your memory, but now I guess you can try and remember that Chimeco's head is bigger than that yellow thing.

Yes a lot of people think that for this type of origami.

Yes, but also I was remembering some other pictures I saw where the head is the same in width as the top piece. So I guess I got confused with my memory.

WOW awesome! love the shape and flow of the bottom thing (I'm not up to date with the new pokemon lol). From looking up the picture of the pokemon I think the head needs to be wider? But yeah, when I saw this in my messages/notifications it looked really awesome. Looks like its floating in the air! (is it stuck in the tree?). btw, how were you gonna 'wear' it? awesome work! Do you think you could make more digimon?

Thank you so much for commenting! It really means a lot to me (since I have learned from your YouTube videos).
It's possible that the head should be wider. :) I'm glad you think it's floating and I'm flattered that this project got your attention. lol, No it's not stuck in the tree, it was actually blowing in the wind which was a challenge. I chose a day that we got hail to take the picture.
The tail wraps around in the back, I was going to slip my arm threw it and wear it as a bracelet. The red that comes out more on the side would help the Chimecho stay straight while it's on my arm.
This is a Pokemon (I have a plan to make more), but for Digimon they seem more challenging and I'm always up for a challenge. I did some fresh or in-training Digimon before, I might do more. :)
Again thank you. <3

oh yeah I know its a pokemon lol but I'm more of  digimon fan^_^ yep I saw your digimon ones, I was excited to see some since not many people have done it. I tried making a demiveemon but I wasnt commited to making a big model and I tried to make the eyes from pieces, which requires lots of pieces to get the detail, which would make it a big model, otherwise I'd just have to glue eyes on from cut out paper. But yeah, I should try some digimon some time, your ones inspired me to make some^_^

Anyway, glad that you learnt from me^_^ Congrats on coming up with techniques and stuff to make more elaborate models, you've got really interesting ones in your gallery!

Okay. :)
Yeah not a lot of people make digimon projects. Demiveemon does seem to be quite big to get the right details. I might try making more. With the new pokemon release I want to make more.
I'm glad that my digimon projects inspired you! :)

:) You're a great teacher. Thank you!
